Governor Abba Kabir-Yusuf of Kano State has announced plans to reintroduce school feeding and restated commitment to sustainable social development and transformation in the state.

Represented by the speaker, Kano State House of Assembly, Jibrin Falgore in Karaye during the traditional “Hawan Kekasa” hosted by the Karaye Emirate Council as part of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration, the governor said his administration would continue with foreign scholarships to indigent students in the state.

NAN reports that this is contained in a statement by the chief press secretary to the speaker, Uba Abdullahi, in Kano yesterday. According to the statement, the governor said the state government would also reintroduce school feeding and provision of free learning materials to pupils in public primary schools as part of efforts to raise standard in the education sector.

“Other top priority areas are ensuring free ante natal and post-natal services to pregnant and nursing mothers from conception to delivery and child healthcare in addition to improving agriculture for food security and sufficiency,” the governor was quoted as saying in the statement.

He urged the people of the state to support government’s policies and programmes as well as pray for peace and unity in the country.
