Yobe State governor, Mai Mala Buni, has donated the sum of 300 Saudi Riyals to each of the 2,018 Pilgrims from the State, who performed the 2023 Hajj in the Holy land of Saudi Arabia.
The donation is intended to support the Hadaya sacrifice that is obligatory for the pilgrims and other associated religious duties in the Holy land.
One of the Pilgrims, Hajiya Hafsat Umar, made the disclosure during a chat with LEADERSHIP.
According to her, Yobe State Pilgrims appreciated the governor’s gesture and reciprocated the same by offering special prayers on the special day of Arafat to the State and Nigeria at large.
Recall that the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) had awarded Yobe State Muslim Pilgrims Commission the ‘Best Performing State Muslim Pilgrims Board’ award during the 2022 Hajj exercise.
The award was based on the report of the Assessment and Award Committee for Hajj 2022 that scored Yobe State the best in various fields of service delivery during the last year’s exercise.
Our correspondent gathered that Governor Buni had in the past Hajj exercises also made similar donations to support Pilgrims from the State.
