A media group, Citizens Media and Development Network (CIMEDEN), has charged the secretary to the government of the federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, to remain steadfast and focused in the task of ensuring optimum implementation of public policies in the Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration.

The group, which comprises editors and policy experts, focuses on public policy, democracy and governance and media sector development advocacy.

In a statement issued by CIMRDEN programme officer, Mr Elijah Elims, after its Public Policy Review Meeting (PPRM) in Abuja yesterday, the group promised to support and partner with the SGF because “the office of the secretary to the government of the federation (SGF) and its performance are central and very critical to the good governance and development of the country.”

Elims, on behalf of the director of CIMEDEN, said, “As the engine room of government, it is the coordinator and driver of government policies and programmes, which is why the recent appointment of Senator George Akume by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is of immense significance to the successful implementation of socio-economic plans for the development of the country.”

He said, “We believe in the competence and capacity of Senator George Akume to deliver on his task. In line with our advocacy focus of public policy communication, we are ready to partner with the office of the SGF with a view to highlighting the policies and programmes of government, engage in public education and enlightenment in order to create a civic link with the citizens who are the targeted beneficiaries.”
