NYSC Warns Corps Members Against Unauthorised Trips

Corps members have been warned against embarking on unauthorised journeys or risky adventures that may expose them to danger during their service year.

However, if it is compulsory that they travel, the scheme said they must obtain permission from the NYSC and also avoid night travelling.

The director-general of the National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Yusha’u Dogara Ahmed, gave the warning while addressing Corps Members during his visit to NYSC Jigawa State Orientation Camp in Fanisau Dutse.

He said his administration places topmost priority on the security and welfare of corps members and NYSC officials, and would continue to do everything possible to ensure their safety.

In a press statement, signed by the director, press and public relations, Eddy Megwa, the DG advised that while travelling and once it is 6pm in the evening, they should break their journey and pass the night in either military barracks, NYSC formations, police barracks or other safe places.

He advised the corps members to also take their personal security with seriousness and avoid associating with people of questionable characters.

“Be law-abiding, remain focused and always follow the rules and regulations in camp. You are from different socio-cultural backgrounds, learn from one another and make friends. You must tolerate one another because we expect high level of discipline from you.
