Five suspects, including an 80-year-old man, Pa Michael Fakun, have been arrested by operatives of Ekiti State Security Network Agency, code-named Amotekun Corps, for alleged burglary and vandalism.

The octogenarian was apprehended alongside one Oladosu Eniola (52) for allegedly vandalizing equipment belonging to the Ekiti State Water Corporation in Okemesi-Ekiti, in Ekiti West local government area of the State.

The trio of Rufai Usiaka (26), Bahari Ibrahim (30) and Mannir Yahaya (30), were also nabbed for allegedly breaking into some houses in an estate located in Oke-Ila area of Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.

Parading the suspects  to journalists at the Corps headquarters along the Old Iyin Road, Ado Ekiti, the Corps Commander, Brigadier Gen. Joe Komolafe (rtd), said three of the suspects were arrested after the Corps received a distress call that some persons unlawfully broke into a residential house located at Tinuola area of Ado-Ekiti.

Komolafe said that a pumping machine installed in one of the houses they broke into in the area was vandalised.

He said, “Five suspects were arrested this morning. Three of them for house breaking attempt and two for breaking into Water Corporation properties in Okemesi.

“These two suspects stole things like armoured cable, and vandalised other items belonging the Corporation.

“For the other three suspects, we received a distress call from Tinuola Estate this morning, we went there and were able to arrest them,” he said.

On various achievements recorded by the Amotekun Corps in recent time, the Amatekun boss dIsclosed that they assisted in the rescue of the State chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Barr. Paul Omotosho, who was kidnapped recently, and the arrest of several criminals  in the State.
