Uhogua, a fast growing community and home of the Needy Foundation, which shelters over 3,000 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), was engulfed communal crisis, which forced land developers in the area to flee.

However, members of the community under leadership of the Duke of Uhogua, His Royal Highness, Osazumwenro Eresoyen, told journalists at his palace that the new community leadership in place as appointed was to fast-track development and unite the people for peace and development the community yearns for.

He explained that the decision to put in place a new leadership became pertinent in order to right the wrongs of the past by Oka-Egheles leadership where criminal activities and crisis had dragged the community backward.

According to monarch, “Uhogua is a very peaceful community. Ii know there are some rumours going on about disunity in the community and since I came back here, the elders and the womeni all came to me that nothing is happening which prompted the change in government which we did.

“The persons ruling had been there in the last 12 years and since I am here, I have to do the needful for the sake of development for everybody. The decision we took was a collective one and there is no division in the community and I am ready to accept back all those spreading the rumour for the sake of peace and development.”

He also appealed to the Edo State government to come to the aid of the community in the provisions of basic amenities such as roads, schools, market and health centres that would open up the community for development just as he advised the newly appointed community executives to carry everyone along in the affairs of the community.

The newly appointed Oka-Eghele, Mr Omona Ewanisha, and his deputy, Osawi Omaghe, on their part expressed commitment to ensure that peace prevails in the community as they called on all land owners to come with all relevant documents to develop their land.
