The leadership of Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed alarm over the effrontery of a suspended member impersonating the state publicity secretary.

In a statement jointly signed by the state secretary, Chief Chidi Avaja and the organising secretary, Hon. Obinna Atuonwu, the party warned that it would take drastic measures to checkmate all impostors.

Avaja said, “It has come to our notice that one Offor Okorie, a native of Arochukwu has been presenting himself as our publicity secretary on both radio and social media platforms,” saying that Okorie had never been an elected official of Abia APC nor has he ever been appointed at any point in time to act as publicity secretary.

According to the statement made available to the media at the weekend, APC said Okorie was among the party members placed on suspension over their anti-party activities.

“(Okorie’s)suspension by the chapter has long been ratified at the zonal level of our party, and he ceased to be a member of the party by implication,” APC stated.

“His unwarranted and presumptuous claim to the office (of publicity secretary) is only aimed at deceiving the unsuspecting public,” it added.

The party warned that “we will not hesitate to take necessary legal steps against (Okorie) should he continue in his ignoble posturing.”
