Youth groups and constituents of Osun East Senatorial District on Wednesday staged a peaceful protest over an alleged inciting comment credited to the Senator representing the district, Senator Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi, during the concluded 2026 Osun State governorship election, saying it is part of the process to recall him from the National Assembly.

The youths under the aegis of Coalition of Osun East Youths, and Concerned Citizens, armed with placards with varying inscriptions, in their numbers thronged the streets of Ilesa as they converged at Enuwa roundabout, marched through Isokun, Ilesa Market Square and terminated the procession at the gate of Owa-Obokun palace.

Fadahunsi had denied the comments he allegedly made in a viral video during a protest staged by the All Progressives Congress against the alleged killing of their members, saying that it was doctored by the opposition party to tarnish his image.

Addressing newsmen on behalf of the protesters, Comrade Olorunfemi Olatunji explained that the protest was part of the recall process for Fadahunsi over the inciting comment, citing poor representation as one of the reasons for the protest.

He scored the district Senator’s representation poorly and berated him for an incisive statement made during the 2026 electioneering period.

According to him, “We, under the aegis of the Coalition of Youth and Students with Concerned Citizens of Osun East Senatorial District, are opposed to the reckless statement made by our Senator before the election.

“This protest is the first stage of our actions.

We are recalling him back home. We are still going to Abuja. All the necessary legal actions to recall him have been prepared, and we will begin them in a few days.

“We have filed the petition, and we are following it with action that his recall process will follow.”
