‘Abia Domestic Export Warehouse Ready Soon’

Abia State commissioner for trade, commerce, and industry, Chimezie Ukaegbu has said the ongoing domestic export warehouse at Ohiya, along the Enugu- Port Harcourt Expressway is nearing completion.

Ukaegbu stated this at a meeting with the stakeholders, and the managing director of the construction firm handling the project and the consultant in the state capital, Umuahia.

Represented by the director in charge of the ministry, Onuoha Udeala, Ukaegbu said the administration is desirous of completing the project within the shortest time frame.

“The administration has so much interest in this project. And one of the ways of demonstrating it is to provide the enabling environment for it to strive. We will make it attractive to investors,” he said.

He said the project which is the first of its kind in the South East zone had been earmarked among facilities Governor Alex Otti would inaugurate to mark his first 100 days in office.

Assuring that the project, when completed, would create job opportunities and improve the internally generated revenue of the state, he added that all hands must be on deck to complete it.

Contributing, the state coordinator of the Nigeria Export Promotion Council, Rose Ekanem said licence had been granted for the facility and stressed that it is critical to the development of the economies of the state and the zone.

In his remarks, the managing director of the construction firm and the consultant, Paul Uzuegbu assured of quality jobs and timely completion of the project.

He commended both the state and the federal governments as well as the stakeholders for their support for the project, adding that the facility would meet the expected standard.
