Ahead of the nomination and appointment of ministers by President Bola Tinubu, an energy expert and founder of Asteven Energy Institute, Dr Sunny Akpoyibo had urged the new cabinet members to prioritise the training of youths in renewable energy to boost the nation’s economy.

He also urged government, philanthropists, politicians, academic institutions and well-meaning organisations to sponsor youths who will become future leaders in the renewable energy space in Africa.

Akpoyibo made these calls at an interactive session with journalists in Abuja where he disclosed that Germany is to issue trainees of the institute work visa in the European country.

According to him, the German government has passed a new law known as the ‘Skilled Immigration Act which is to provide career and job opportunities for Nigerians with vocational and non-academic training.

Akpoyibo said the new law which puts much emphasis on vocational qualification was passed by the government to expand its employment net for foreigners and augment the country’s over two million vacancies.

“Germany is the second-most populous country in Europe after Russia, and the most populous member state of the European Union, the seventh-largest country in Europe and the world’s third-largest exporter and third-largest importer, and has the largest economy in Europe, which is also the world’s fourth-largest economy by nominal GDP.

“Asteven Energy Institute is the first vocational/Innovation Enterprise Institution (IEI) approved by the Federal Ministry of Education (FME) and accredited by Nigeria’s National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) to offer a National Innovation Diploma (NID) in Solar Energy Technology.

“The institute is equipped with modern and state-of-the-art facilities designed based on the German vocational skills model,” had noted.
