Why I Returned To APC –Hon Daramola

Former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Bimbo Daramola has said that his decision to return to the All Progressives Congress (APC) was to join in advancing the party’s course.

Daramola, who represented Ekiti North Federal Constituency 1 between 2011-2015 in the National Assembly, added that he rejoined the party to complement the good works of Governor Biodun Oyebanji and continue his support for the people.

The former federal lawmaker had last year dumped the APC for the Social Democratic Party (SDP) to contest the 2023 National Assembly election.

Daramola was received back into the party by Ekiti State APC chairman, Paul Omotoso and other party leaders at an event held at his home town ,Ward 2, Ire Ekiti in Oye local government area of the state.

Addressing the party members, his supporters and admirers who came from across the state to witness the event, he said, “l believe strongly in the fact that Governor Biodun Oyebanji who has been my friend for over 34 years deserve and earned my support by the way he is been doing thus far.

“I feel that we can complement the good things that he is doing.  Among other reasons is the fact that , what of all other people missing, for the past eight years, I didn’t drink a cup of water from APC , that is the truth. After I left the Parliament and  I left the national assembly in 2015.It is not about me , but it is about all these people you are seeing here today. If I turn my back on them, then everything I have said, done and live for will be deception, so  I just have to come back and see how we can advance the course of this our party APC.

“You held what the chairman of the party said and its effect on Ekiti people. If it is about naira and Kobo or where my next bread is coming from God has done that”.

Daramola thanked Governor Oyebanji and the Senate Majority leader, Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele for their entreaties which culminated in his return to the progressives family.

Describing Oyebanji as a leader, he said, “It is the leader that says  this person has left for so long, it is time to call him back. A leader reorganises.

“Thank you Senator Bamidele for standing by me all time. During the last election, he said whether you win or lose, I will bring you back to APC. Politics must be meaningful “.

Omotoso, who presented Daramola to the party members alongside ward 2 chairman, Hon Dipo Bejide while speaking on how Hon Daramola was brought back to APC, he said, “If we are writing the history of APC, without his name there in, it is not complete.

“He is an asset to APC in EKiti and in Nigeria at large, at the point of death, he stood by the party, when he left the party, we lost so many members and supporters which are coming back with him today.

He is a friend to Governor Oyebanji. We are begging all our aggrieved members to our party because we play politics with number.

“ Till he left we have been talking to him. We begged him  and he agreed to return. He is one of our few great leaders, he is back home fully, we must accept and support him with open arms”
