Nasarawa State House of Assembly has screened and confirmed 16 out of the 17 commissioner-nominees sent to it by Governor Abdullahi Sule.
Speaker of the house Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi disclosed the development after the screening of the nominees during the House proceedings in Lafia, on Tuesday.
Abdullahi had last Friday during the emergency session of the House unveiled the commissioner-nominees submitted by governor Sule for confirmation.
Their confirmation yesterday is sequel to the motion moved by majority leader Mohammed Adamu Omadefu (APC- Keana) to the effect and was seconded by the house minority leader, Luka Zhekaba ( PDP- Obi 11).
The speaker said 16 of the 17 nominees were screened and confirmed by the lawmakers, while one of the nominees, Mr. Haruna Musa, from Nasarawa Eggon local government area, was absent during the proceedings.
He said the affected nominee was indisposed and would be screened whenever he presents himself to the House.
He said: “Those 16 commissioner nominees that have appeared, screened and confirmed are Hon. Yakubu Kwanta-Akwanga LG, Aishatu Rufai- Awe LG; Umar Abubakar Dan’akano, Awe LG, Munirat Abdullahi; Doma LG; Timothy Kasuwa, Karu LG, Ja’afaru Ango, Karu LG; Margaret Elayo, Keana; LG, Bala Mulki, Keffi, LG, and John W Mamman, Kokona LG.
“Others include Abubakar Imam Zanwa, Lafia LG; Samuel Kafu Emgba, Lafia LG; Aliyu Ahmed Tijjani, Nasarawa LG; Muhammed Iyimoga, Obi LG; Labaran Magaji, Toto LG; Gaza Gwamna, Toto LG and Mu’azu Gosho, Wamba LG respectfully.”
The speaker afterwards directed the clerk of the house to communicate the house resolution to the governor for necessary action.
He said the house would proceed on recess today and resume on September 4, 2023.
