Meet Maryam Shetty, Tinubu’s 44-yr-old Female Ministerial Nominee From Kano

In a nation filled with inspiring individuals, Maryam Shettima Ibrahim, known as Maryam Shetty, stands out as a remarkable force driving positive change across multiple fields.

Born on 8th April, 1979, the 44-year-old is a Political and Social Activist, a qualified physiotherapist, and a passionate social entrepreneur, her journey towards success has been nothing short of extraordinary.

Maryam’s academic journey began in Kano, where she received her early education, then she proceeded to the prestigious University of East London, Stratford, in the United Kingdom, where she pursued her Masters Degree in sports physiotherapy. Maryam is single and yet to be married.

Her expertise was in high demand, leading her to become a valued member of the medical team during the London Olympics. Among the elite athletes she worked with was the world record holder and sprinting legend, Usain Bolt, from Jamaica.

Not limiting her pursuits to healthcare, Maryam embarked on a journey of social change by obtaining a Kingian Non Violence practitioner certificate from Emory University in the United States, inspired by the principles of the renowned Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Further, she honed her knowledge in public policy by earning a certificate in Public Policy Challenges of the 21st Century from the University of Virginia.

With a rich background in both clinical and international development sectors, Maryam’s work has left a lasting impact. She has contributed to the UKAid funded programme, PATHS 2, and provided her expertise at the State House Clinic in the Presidential Villa, as well as the Child Care and Wellness sector.

However, Maryam’s passion for philanthropy truly shines in her initiatives, particularly in the realm of education. She led the successful rehabilitation of schools in her native state of Kano through the remarkable #GivingBack initiative, making a significant difference in the lives of countless students.

The culmination of her dedication to her country came when she was chosen to represent Nigeria at the United Nations General Assembly. As part of the committee of accountability and transparency, and Anti-corruption, she showcased her unwavering commitment to her nation.

In the political sphere, Maryam’s involvement has been equally impactful. She was an essential member of the Presidential Campaign Team, handling various roles, including Field Operations and Strategic Communication for the Youths and Women Presidential Campaign Team. She played a crucial role in ensuring a commendably peaceful election Congress in Delta State.

With her political acumen and dedication to her party, Maryam emerged as a prominent APC Chieftain. Her contributions to the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council were highly valued, and she played critical roles in the selection of the APC Presidential Candidate.

Maryam’s remarkable contributions have not gone unnoticed. She received an Honorary Degree from the ESGT University of Technology, Benin Republic, in recognition of her outstanding leadership and community development efforts.
