Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has ordered the commissioner of Police in the state, Afolabi Babatola to investigate the alleged murder of Tukur Abdallah, an SS2 student at Sabilur-Rashid Academy.
The order was contained in a statement on Friday by the chief press secretary to the governor, Humwashi Wonosikou.
Abdallah was allegedly killed by security personnel attached to ‘Operation Farauta’, following a complaint over a missing phone by his neighbour.
The deceased was allegedly beaten to stupor by the security personnel and later died at the Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital, Yola.
The governor frowned at the unfortunate development and ordered the Police to begin intensive investigation into the matter in order to take up the case against those involved if anything shady was discovered.
The governor appealed for calm as investigations continued.
He commiserated with the family of the deceased noting that the life of every Adamawa citizen matters and government would ensure that justice was done and promised to protect the rights of all peace-loving people of the state.
