National coordinator, CCSN, Comr. Abubakar Bature Dandume, while addressing newsmen yesterday in Abuja said through diligent and unbiased investigations, the truth surrounding this matter will come to light, and appropriate actions can be taken to ensure the continuity of Max Air’s operations while upholding the highest standards of safety.

He noted that the recent suspension of Max Air’s operations involving the Boeing B737 Aircraft type by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) which has since been lifted by the NCAA, stressing that the coalition has been closely monitoring and investigating this situation.

On the discussion on Max Air’s commitment to safety protocols, he commended the airline’s commitment to safety protocols, which we have independently verified.

Max Air has consistently upheld its dedication to the highest safety standards, even in the face of adversity.

“An example that stands out is the incident involving the discovery of adulterated fuel. Max Air promptly responded by conducting an in-house audit and voluntarily suspending its operations for two days to ensure the safety of its passengers.

“This proactive approach demonstrates the airline’s unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of its passengers,” he said.

On the House of Representatives involvement and adhoc committee, he lauded the intervention of the Federal House of Representatives in this matter.

Recall that a motion of urgent importance was raised by the Member Representing Delta South, who expressed concerns regarding Max Air’s operations and went as far as proposing the suspension of the airline’s entire operations. However, the House of Representatives decided against this drastic measure and instead established an Adhoc Committee to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter at hand.

He, however, emphasised the importance of conducting the House of Representatives Adhoc Committee investigation with utmost objectivity, impartiality, and diligence.

“While we strongly implore the House of Representatives Adhoc Committee to carry out its investigation without any preconceived biases or prejudices, ensuring a comprehensive and unbiased assessment.

“Time is of the essence, as the efficient functioning of Max Air is integral to the Nigerian economy and the livelihoods of thousands of individuals who directly and indirectly depend on the airline for their livelihoods. Any undue delay in resolving this matter could have far-reaching implications on both the economic stability of our nation and the well-being of its citizens,” he said.

He, however, commended the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) for the swift, objective, and honest probe into the Aircrafts of Max Air and for certifying them worthy of flying our air routes, and also commended them for the lifting of the short-lived suspension of Max Air.

“The Coalition of Civil Society Networks (CCSN) urges all relevant parties to prioritise the fair and prompt resolution of the suspension of Max Air’s operations involving Boeing B737 Aircraft type.

“We believe that through diligent and unbiased investigations, the truth surrounding this matter will come to light, and appropriate actions can be taken to ensure the continuity of Max Air’s operations while upholding the highest standards of safety,” he added.
