Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has declared that his “Bauchi Project”, which is the strategic vision of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) administration in the state developed in 2019 has assisted the government to meet the demands of the citizenry.
The governor spoke when he received the report of the Technical Committee of the 2023 Transition at the Government House, Bauchi.
Governor Bala said his Bauchi project has also guided the development of the Bauchi State Medium Term Development Plan 2021-2025 as the roadmap to achieve the desired objectives.
He recalled that between 2019 to date, his administration has recorded remarkable progress towards the provision of basic social services and improvement of the quality and stock of infrastructure that had tremendously affected the lives and welfare of the people generally.
These, governor Bala said, were in addition to several other major reforms that have been undertaken within the various sectors of the public service in order to support the implementation of his plans and efforts for greater Bauchi State.
To this end, he said, the future demands for infrastructure and services has become imperative in view of the current economic realities, his re-election for another four years, a review of the performances over the period of 2019 – 2023, and the challenges that had impeded the overall implementation of the previous plan.
“I wish to most sincerely thank the chairman and members of the committee for their commitment and painstaking efforts over the last three months that had resulted in a comprehensive report that has been captured in three volumes,” he said.
Governor Bala noted that, in coming up with a robust plan of implementation, his government will appoint an implementation committee that comprises key officials of government from various sectors, non-state experts from key sectors of education, healthcare, agriculture, natural resources, water resources, commerce as well as industries, technology and societal reorientation.
“We will constitute the committee within the shortest possible time. The committee shall work to ensure the alignment of the State’s Plans (short term and long term) and Annual Budgets with the strategic vision and recommendations contained in the report; clear articulation of key performance indicators based on expected outcomes; monitoring and evaluation through the periodic review of performances of government institutions.”
Earlier, the chairman of the committee, Professor Usman Bugaje, applauded Governor Bala Mohammed for his foresight in evolving the “Bauchi Project” and called for timely implementation of their recommendations to consolidate on his administration’s gains in first tenure.
