Oro People Seek Inclusiveness In Development Process

Apparently disturbed by alleged marginalisation in the distribution of development projects, the Oro ethnic nationality drawn from Oron, Okobo, Mbo, Udung Uko and Urueofong/Oruko local government areas of Akwa Ibom State has tasked Nigerian leaders including President Bola Tinubu and Governor Umo Eno, as well as the Senate President, Chief Godswill Akpabio, to come to their rescue.

Commenting on the achievements of the Pastor Eno – led administration ahead of his administration’s 100 days in office,  the organisation under the aegis of Oron Elders Forum (OEF) pledged support for Governor Eno’s ‘Arise Agenda’ and expressed optimism that the blueprint would engender development across all ethnic nationalities in the state.

The communique after a meeting of the forum at the weekend in Uyo applauded the governor for jettisoning party politics to build the essential bridge to the centre, noting that the intra – party interactions with President Tinubu, the Senate President, Senator Akpabio and others was a deep political and diplomatic overture aimed at aligning the state with the centre for more federal presence despite being run by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Besides, the Oro leaders applauded the deputy governor, Senator Akon Eyakenyi, for being part of the victory ticket with Governor Eno, and expressed the hope that such alliance would foster peace, unity and socio – economic integration of Oro nation in  mainstream Akwa Ibom politics.

The communique signed by the chairman of the forum and former House of Representatives member for Oron Federal Constituency, Dr. Esio Okwong Udoh, commended the composition of the State Executive Council (SEC), assuring that the wealth of experience of Eno and Eyakenyi in both public and private sector services would ensure effective implementation of the ‘Arise Agenda’.

Part of the communique also endorsed by the secretary, Dr  Okon Osung (Ikpoto Oro), however lamented the deplorable state of the major link road connecting Nsit Atai – Okobo – Oron LGAs, and drew the attention of   Governor Eno to the horrible condition of the strategic road.
