Akeem Owonikoko, a highly regarded and trusted member of the So Safe Corp in Ososa, Ogun State, finds himself confronted with allegations of being involved in criminal activities, including possessing illegal weapons. However, the reality might diverge significantly from the portrayals seen in viral videos and sensational headlines. Akeem Owonikoko, supported by his community, vehemently denies these accusations, asserting that he is not a criminal but rather a dedicated community figure who has committed himself to upholding peace and security in his cherished town.

In an exclusive and heartfelt video interview conducted by the Yoruba Broadcasting Network, Akeem Owonikoko has broken his silence to share his perspective. He details how he became ensnared in a series of events that led to his predicament and how he was deliberately framed by unscrupulous individuals with the intent of tarnishing his reputation and ruining his livelihood.

Akeem Owonikoko recounts his journey into the So Safe Corp in 2014, catalyzed by the disruptive activities of a notorious cult group known as the Eye confraternity, which had a detrimental impact on his hospitality business. To address this, he acquired a vigilante uniform and security tools, including pepper spray, shockers, and jacklives, equipping himself to play a role in safeguarding his community. Additionally, he collaborated with other security organizations such as Agbekoya and Amotekun corps, pooling resources with fellow volunteers to combat criminal activities and maintain public order.

He shares his experience of procuring his initial firearm from a local hunter named Victor in 2017. Akeem Owonikoko clarifies that the weapon was later modified due to malfunctions, and asserts that he solely used it for self-defense purposes, never engaging in any unlawful actions. He emphasizes his cooperation with various law enforcement units and different Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), who recognized and appreciated his contributions. This recognition culminated in his appointment as the unit commandant at Ososa for the vigilante corps.

The community members of Ososa rally behind Akeem Owonikoko, offering testimonials to his character and integrity. They laud him as an industrious, committed, and devoted So Safe Corp member, consistently at the forefront of anti-crime efforts and the maintenance of communal harmony. The allegations leveled against him elicit disbelief and consternation from the community, with these claims being deemed unfounded and fabricated.

Pending further consideration of Akeem’s account and its validation: Akeem Owonikoko stands as a community hero unjustly accused and unfairly detained. He merits a fair trial and his freedom, not undue condemnation and imprisonment. He warrants the appreciation and respect of his community, rather than public reproach and mockery. His narrative should be heard and accorded credence, rather than suppressed or dismissed.

As Akeem Owonikoko awaits resolution, he appeals to both authorities and the media to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into his case. He implores the public not to rush to judgment based solely on internet content, but to consider his years of dedicated service to the community. Emotionally, he appeals, “They have cast me in a false light; I am not a criminal. My role is that of a peacemaker, a community hero. Please assist me in restoring my reputation.”
