Zeberced Win Seven Goal Thriller Against NUJ In Novelty Match Man Utd

Zeberced Football Club at the weekend in Abuja thrashed the FCT Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) football team 5-2 in a novelty match to climax the three days activities of the Union.

The body over the week organised walking and jogging exercise for it’s members to keep fit. The exercise which started from Berger Junction to its secretariat at Utako in Abuja, had medical personnel on ground attending health needs of journalists, ranging from blood pressure tests to sugar level among others.

Reacting to his side victory, general manager of Zeberced Construction Company, Alhaji Nasu Ibrahim, said

he was not surprised with the scorelines, nor the number of trophies won by Zeberced’s team. 

“The match was very exciting, very touching and feeling for us to be together. I was thinking you will not be counting the goals or the trophies but what happens and the benefits.

“This is the first match in the series and I thank NUJ very much for coming here to play the game. We have no reason not to be engaged in sporting activities and we are going to engage NUJ again in its Press week.

“We’re looking at it as a success because we have interacted with them, and we are looking forward for future interaction and advantage of spotting activities.

 

“Sport is health and you drill yourself, you get rid of excess calories and it enable us to contribute meaningful to the development of society,” he explained.

 

In his remark, the acting chairman of the NUJ,  FCT Council, Osaretin Osadebamwen, commended Zeberced football team for engaging the Union and quality of football displayed by both sides.

According to him; “The game was very interesting even though we did not emerge as we would have wanted to be. it’s going to facilitate more bonding for both organisations as well as helping us to look other areas where we can call on government to make investments that will improve the quality of lives of Nigerians,” he noted.
