Youths of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State yesterday staged a protest at the party’s secretariat in Port Harcourt, over the decision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to appoint known members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state into key positions.

This is as an APC chieftain, Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has predicted that the romance between Tinubu and the minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, will collapse in fullness of time.

The protesting youths, who read an open letter addressed to the President, relayed several concerns about how Tinubu had abandoned the state party structure in favour of the PDP, pointing out that it had become imperative to speak up less they die in silence.

The letter reads in part: “Recent developments have seen appointments made in favour of members of the PDP leaving our teeming supporters and Party faithfuls nonplussed and extremely perturbed.

“Sir, it is important to take a look at the provisions in our parties constitution: Article 9 (3) (iii) of the APC constitution states as follows “APC-led Governments at all levels shall accord qualified members of the party priority in appointments to positions in ministries, departments and agencies.”

Meanwhile, an APC chieftain,Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has said said the political alliance between Tinubu and Wike, which allegedly contravenes every recognized standards of sound politicking, was founded on immorality and grossly distorts the ethical contents of politics and political liberalism.

Eze, in a statement made available to LEADERSHIP in Port Harcourt yesterday, stated that those from Rivers State, who the President appointed into ministries and boards did not deserve such appointments.

He said: “The reward system has been disproportionately tilted against qualified and deserving members of the Rivers APC who committed time and materials to calm the hydra-headed intra-party rivalry and instill stability in the face of very stiff and ambitious opposition and snooping saboteurs who connived in vain to whittle down the political influence and electoral value of the party in the state in the build-up to the elections.”

The APC chieftain stated that the actions of Tinubu, which allegedly added legitimacy to the brewing trend of political harlotry has heightened growing concerns of infidelity and other unsavory practices among players in the political playground.
