The Hon Justice Sidi Bage Federal Secretariat Complex located on Jos Road Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital was on Tuesday shut following the 2-day warning strike embarked upon by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).
The national leadership of the Congress had directed a nationwide warning strike to protest the hardship being experienced by Nigerians as a result of the subsidy removal by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The Nasarawa State chapter of the Congress on Monday directed its members to moblise for the strike.
“Accordingly, you are by this directive to moblise all your members to commence the 2-day warning strike effectively on Tuesday,” the Congress said through a statement by its secretary, Comrade Ahmed Mohammed Naibi.
Our correspondent observed that the main gate of the Federal Secretariat Complex which housed most of the federal offices in the state, was shut as at 8:am when civil servants were supposed to report to work Tuesday morning.
The security guards turned our correspondent back when he pleaded to be allowed in, saying there’s no one at the facility because of the strike.
Our correspondent also observed that several of the state government’s offices located opposite the federal Secretariat complex were also closed.
The offices include; ministries of land, health, education and agriculture. The Nasarawa State Geographic Information Service which is located in the same vicinity with the affected ministries was also not opened to workers.
A few meters away from the location were the State Internal Revenue Service and Urban Development Board both of which were also closed.
