Ganduje’s Son Loses Again As Tribunal Affirms Jobe’s Election  

The Kano State National/State Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal has upheld the electoral victory of the Member representing Rimin Gado/Dawakin Tofa/Tofa federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Alhaji Tijjani Abubakar Jobe, of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

Consequently, the Tribunal dismissed the petition of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate and son of the party’s National Chairman, Umar Abdullahi Ganduje.

Rep Jobe contested and won the February 25 election against Umar Ganduje, who subsequently challenged his victory at the Tribunal.

The Tribunal on Tuesday dismissed Ganduje’s petition for lack of sufficient evidence to support his allegations.

Delivering judgement, the three-man panel led by Justice I. P. Chima, dismissed the petition for lack of merit.

“The petitioner failed to present sufficient evidence to support the petition and the election of Jobe is hereby affirmed,” he declared.

More so, Ganduje was ordered to pay Rep Jobe and other respondents the sum of N200,000 each as damages.

Earlier, Counsel to Ganduje, Mr Abdulgafar Murtala, had urged the court to declare his client winner and set aside the INEC declaration that announced Jobe as winner of the February 25 election.

The petitioner had alleged that the Rimin Gado, Dawakin Tofa, and Tofa federal constituency election was marred by over-voting and non-compliance with the Electoral Act.
