Ten persons have been arrested by the Ekiti State Police Command over the death of a female student of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE).

The management of the institution had on Wednesday declared the 200-Level student of the Department of Nursing, identified as Modupe Deborah Atanda, missing only to discover her dead body in a shallow grave later in the day within the school premises.

Announcing the death of the student in a press release signed by the University’s Registrar, Mufutau Ibrahim, the institution said, “It will be recalled that earlier today (Wednesday), the Management had made public the disturbing development of the missing of the deceased and assured that investigation was ongoing as to unravel her whereabouts.

“But current information reaching the security outfit of the University has disclosed that the said student is dead.

“While we condole with the deceased family and the generality of the University community, particularly our dear students, the Management reiterated that investigation is still ongoing and this is being done in collaboration with national security agencies with a view to getting to the root of the sad development and bringing to book the culprits.

“We, therefore, appeal to students and all other stakeholders to remain calm.”

Meanwhile, the Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, Mr Dare Ogundare, has ordered a discreet but through investigation into the cause of Deborah’s death.
