Maltina Teacher of the Year competition, organised by the Nigerian Breweries’ Felix Ohiwerei Education Trust Fund, is set to reach new heights in its 2023 edition, as a total of 172 outstanding educators from across 29 states and the Federal Capital Territory have successfully navigated the initial selection process.

This achievement follows the reception of a remarkable 1,203 valid entries, signifying a significant milestone in the competition’s history.

The rigorous evaluation and grading process, overseen by the Project Consultant, Prof. Uchenna Udeani, saw a team of experienced lecturers carefully scrutinizing and scoring each entry. These efforts ultimately identified the top 172 teachers, distinguished by their exceptional scores, who will now progress to the competition’s highly anticipated second phase.

These 172 successful entries will undergo final assessment by a distinguished panel of judges, led by Prof. Pat Utomi, to determine the top 10 candidates and state champions. This final phase will determine who will claim the coveted title of the 2023 Maltina Teacher of the Year.

Mrs. Sade Morgan, the Corporate Affairs Director of Nigerian Breweries Plc, expressed her satisfaction with the substantial increase in teacher participation in this year’s competition. She noted that the 2023 edition recorded the highest number of valid entries since its inception, with an impressive 1,203 valid entries received out of 1,499 submissions.
