Suspected bandits have killed two and abducted seven others in Kwarkwarasa village of Maiyama local government area of Kebbi State. They later released one of the victims.
The district head of Andarai, Aliyu Mohammed Liba, who revealed the incident to journalists who visited the area yesterday, said the bandits attacked the village at the weekend during rainfall and when the people were asleep.
Liba said the gunmen killed two and abducted seven villagers.
He said they later released one of the seven abducted persons, while six others were still in their captivity including one female.
The governor, Nasir Idris who personally visited the village shortly after the incident to sympathise the people has donated N10 million to the families of the deceased as well as those who sustained injuries in the attack.
He assured the community that the government had put measures in place to avert recurrence of the ugly incident in the area.
The governor said the present administration under his watch has given the security agencies all the necessary support and cooperation towards combating the menace of criminals across the state.
He said his administration would secure the state and make it a place where people will sleep with their two eyes closed and go about their normal businesses without any fear of molestation.
