CAF Salutes Osimhen On The Best FIFA Men’s Player Nomination

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has praised Super Eagles and Napoli striker Victor Osimhen on his nomination for the 2023 Best FIFA men’s Player nomination.

FIFA named Osimhen as one of the 12 nominees for this year’s award which also include Lionel Messi, Erling Haaland, Kevin De Bruyne and Julian Alvarez.

Also on the list are Osimhen’s Napoli teammate Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Kylian Mbappe, Declan Rice, Bernardo Silva, Rodri and Ilkay Gundogan.

Commenting on Osimhen’s nomination, CAF wrote on X:“The man of the hour.

“Congratulations to Victor Osimhen on this precious nomination! ”

Aside the Best FIFA men’s Player award, Osimhen is also shortlisted for the 2023 Ballon d’Or award.

The Nigerian international scored 26 goals to help Napoli win the 2022/23 Serie A title, their first since 1990.

He became the first-ever African to win the Golden Boot in the Italian topflight.

Also, he emerged top scorer in the 2023 AFCON qualifiers with 10 goals.
