JUST IN: Gunmen Ambush, Set Ablaze 8 Soliders, Policemen In Imo

Eight security operatives comprised of soldiers, policemen, and the Nigeria Security And Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have been set ablaze in Ehime Mbano local government area of Imo State.

Already, residents of Umualumaku community in the Ehime Mbano council have taken to their heels for fear of reprisal from security agencies.

 

Sources told LEADERSHIP that the incident occurred on Tuesday morning in Umualumaku community during the early morning hours by yet to be identified gunmen.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the joint security taskforce team in two security trucks were ambushed and set ablaze by their attackers, with no survivors.

According to the source, the security operatives were burnt inside their operational vehicles while in transit.

 

He disclosed that reinforcement teams had been dispatched to Umualumaku community to retrieve the bodies of the eight security operatives.

 

Already, a video of the incident is trending across social media platforms within the state.

 

Police spokesperson for Imo state, Henry Okoye, confirmed the development and requested for time to get the full details of the killings.
