Man Jailed For Theft Of Grand Mum’s Wrappers, Freed

Adamawa State chief judge, Justice, Hapsat Abdulrahaman, has freed one Hassan Ahmadu, from Maiha local government area correctional centre for stealing his grandmother’s wrappers.

Hassan got his freedom during continuation tour of correctional centres by the Jail Delivery Committee headed by the state chief judge and inaugurated to decongest correctional centres.

He (Hassan), who had earlier, spent four months in jail, confessed to have used the money realised from the stolen wrappers to buy local liquor.

He was convicted and sentenced to two years imprisonment about four months ago by the Upper Area Court.

According to the prosecution, the convict had made away with three wrappers and a soap belonging to his grandmother and that the police had arrested him and recovered two of the wrappers.

Hassan confessed that he stole the said items and pleaded with the committee to pardon him, saying that he has been reformed.
