Following the unveiling of schedule of activities for the 2024 Edo State governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), a renowned business magnate and oil & gas industry leader, Prof. Sunny Eromosele, has officially announced his intention to contest the Edo State governorship election.

Eromosele, a native of Irrua in the heart of Esan Central, is the Managing Director at Mudiame International Limited and is the visionary behind Mudiame University.

Addressing party members and supporters at the Labour Party (LP) state secretariat in Benin City, Eromosele emphasised the critical need for individuals like himself, equipped with valuable private-sector successes, to address the challenges confronting the state.

Highlighting the state’s strategic significance within the country, Eromosele stressed his commitment to transforming Edo State into an industrial powerhouse, generating substantial employment opportunities.

He underscored the importance of infrastructure development, particularly a comprehensive road network, to facilitate seamless movement of goods and people, thereby positioning the state as a transportation hub and attracting investment.

“As an investor and business owner, I am dedicated to utilising my expertise to ensure a secure environment and a conducive ecosystem for business growth. This encompasses strengthening our security apparatus and fostering job creation,” Eromosele affirmed.

Eromosele envisions Edo as a hub for skill development, emphasising investments in education and talent exportation.

He also made it clear that reducing poverty and promoting social justice were paramount in his agenda, advocating merit-based appointments, employment, and contracts — a principle he has steadfastly upheld in the private sector.

Reflecting on his background, Eromosele recounted his journey from aspiring to improve his circumstances as a youth to becoming an inspiration for others striving for success. His determination led to the establishment of his first organization, which, in turn, contributed to the nation’s growth.

He spoke of the impact of his endeavours, revealing his enduring dream of bringing joy to people’s lives and actively contributing to the nation’s development.

Today, his organisation stands as a pioneer in the oil and gas industry, reshaping the narrative of local content not only in oil but also in construction and aviation.

Mudiame University, another of his accomplishments, focuses on training the workforce that will drive Nigeria’s industrialisation, proudly situated in Edo State.

Eromosele expressed confidence in collaboratively shaping a future for Edo State that rivals any other place, citing his alignment with the Labour Party’s principles of job-led growth, economic transformation, and poverty alleviation as the reason for his choice of political party.
