The National Economic Council (NEC) has appealed to the Organised Labour to shelve its impending indefinite strike action set for October 3, 2023.

A member of the Council and Plateau State governor, Caleb Mutfwang, disclosed this to State House correspondents on Thursday following a NEC meeting presided over by Vice President Kashim Shettima at the Presidential Villa.

Governor Mutfwang underscored the Council’s consensus that the proposed strike could have dire consequences for the nation’s economy.

He revealed that the Council had taken into account the far-reaching impact such industrial action could have on the country’s economic stability.

He also disclosed that President Bola Tinubu in his forthcoming October 1 broadcast to the nation, is expected to touch upon some of the concerns raised by the Labour unions.
