Speaking with Leadership ahead of the game,  Godwin Enakhena said Sporting Lagos is prepared, very prepared for the season. “We have fortified our team and everywhere we did not have quality we have supply and we are ready for the season.”

Both Sporting Lagos and Gombe United will be meeting for the first time in the history of the NPFL. Sporting Lagos secured promotion to the top flight after finishing among the top four in the Nigeria National League playoff.
