A former commissioner for works in Kwara State, Engr Rotimi Ilyasu, has cleared the air on media reports about his purported grilling by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC).
Ilyasu told newsmen in Ilorin that the anti-graft agency had not extended any invitation to him talk less of grilling him on alleged financial malfeasance while in office.
He said all the projects executed in the state between 2019 and 2023 when he superintended over the ministry of works were of ‘superb’ quality and met international standards.
He made specific reference to the ongoing Tunde Idiagbon flyover bridge project along the University of Ilorin road, Tanke, Ilorin.
The former commissioner said recognised projects regulatory agencies like COREN had adjudged the project to have met the required standard.
He described the speculations about his purported invitation by the EFCC on some of the projects executed under his watch as propaganda by political rivals.
An online platform had published a story to the effect that the EFCC invited Ilyasu over allegation bordering on N20 billion said to have been misappropriated during his tenure as commissioner in the state.
