There was a banter about where to find eligible bachelors/spinsters and Fidelia said: “there is just one perfect place, the gym”. They teased about how wearing the best sportsoutfit combined with doing the leg/squat routines can land you a healthy/wealthy man/woman. All I could do was shake my head at the height of cruise that this scenario was used for.

Being fit and healthy is no cruise. Having a routine that works for you is no joke. Maintaining a particular weight for some health complications must be in the handbook of eligible bachelor/spinsters’ pros and cons.

From aqua-running, push-up’s, weight-lifting to yoga, dancing and ballet, any activity that enhances or maintains physical fitness and overall health and wellness – including gardening, lawn mowing, etc, is Exercise.

Exercise is performed for various reasons, to aid growth and improve strength, develop muscles and the cardiovascular system, hone athletic skills, weight loss or maintenance, improve health, or simply for enjoyment. Many individuals choose to exercise outdoors where they can socialize, improve wellbeing and mental health.

In terms of health benefits, the amount of recommended exercise depends upon the goal, the type of exercise, and the age of the person. Even doing a little amount of exercise is healthier than doing none.

Physical exercises are generally grouped into three types based on the effect they have on human body:

  • Aerobic exercise is any physical activity that uses large muscle groups and causes the body to use more oxygen than it would at rest. The goal of aerobic exercise is to increase cardiovascular endurance. Examples include running, cycling, swimming, brisk walking, skipping, rowing, hiking, dancing, playing tennis, continuous training, and long distance running.
  • Anaerobic exerciseincludes strength and resistance training, firm, strengthen, and increase muscle mass, and improve bone density, balance, and coordination. Examples are push-ups, pull-ups, lunges, squats, bench press.
  • Flexibility exercises stretch and lengthen muscles. Activities such as stretching and yoga help to improve joint flexibility and keep muscles limber. The goal is to improve the range of motion which can reduce the chance of trauma from is injury.

So Fidelia this one is for you: remember that physical exercise is important for maintaining physical fitness which contributes to maintaining a healthy weight, regulating the digestive system, building a healthy bone density, muscle strength, and joint mobility, promoting physiology/psychological well-being, reducing surgical risks, and strengthening the immune system. Some studies indicate that exercise may increase life span and quality of life. People who participate in moderate to high levels of physical activities have a lower mortality rate compared to individuals who are not physically active. Moderate levels of exercise have been correlated with preventing aging by reducing inflammatory potential.

Come to think of it, this might just be the latest qualification for the most eligible spinsters and bachelors. Fidelia might just be right after-all because health is wealth.
