Volleyball: 2nd Phase Of National’l Division 1 & 2 Serves Off October 6

All is set for the kick off of the second phase of the 2023 National Division 1 and 2 Volleyball Leagues on Friday, October 6, in Kaduna.

According to Martin Melandi, technical representative of Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NBVF), the Division 1 and 2 Leagues will be held from October 6 to 15, 2023 at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna, Kaduna State.

Melandi said 11 teams will participate in the division 2 (men), five teams in the division 1 (men) while three teams will feature in the women’s division 1.

He said two teams from the national division 1 will gain promotion to the Nigeria Volleyball Premier League after the end of the season.

“I am happy to announce that the second phase of the National Division 1 and 2 Volleyball Leagues will come up in Kaduna State from 6th to 15th October, 2023. The NVBF had to postpone the league due to the just concluded 2023 National Youth Games in Asaba.

“A total of 19 teams will participate in the second phase of the 2023 National Division 1 and 2 Volleyball Leagues and two teams from the Division 1 will gain promotion into the Premier League as approved by the League Management Committee (LMC).

“We are trying to create a robust system that will translate to a win-win situation for all,” Melandi said. 

Men’s teams competing in the National Division 1 are; Nigeria Correctional Service, Kwara United, UCEM of Enugu, Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Spikers and G-Rank of Kachia.

While Olalomi Royal VC, Imo Spikers, NAF Rockets are in the women’s category.

11 men’s team who will battle in the Division 2 league, include; Adamawa Spikers, Ajase Ipo, Imo Spikers, Life Camp VC, NAF Rockets, Niger Brass, Olalomi Royal, Oluyole Spikers, Sword VC of Benue, Safety Spikers, and Udogu Spikers.
