Vicar Hope Foundation has announced a free breast cancer examination for women in Abia State throughout this month to mark the 2023 Breast Cancer Awareness month.
The foundation, which advocates for good health, disease management, and women emancipation is funded by the wife of the former governor of the state, Nkechi Ikpeazu.
This was contained in a statement by the vice president of the foundation, Edith Nwosu, which was made available to LEADERSHIP Friday, yesterday, in Umuahia, the state capital.
The statement said the examination will be conducted at the foundation’s centres at 75 Cameroon Road, Aba and 183 Ndume Otuka Bypass, Umuahia from 10.00 am. to 2.00 pm on week days.
It advised women between the ages of 20 and 40 to have clinical breast examination once every two years while those above 40 should do it at least yearly.
“In addition, women are advised by the foundation to do self-examination of their breast at home every month and look out for lumps and see a doctor if they notice any lump or slight discoloration,” the statement added.
