Global Information and Communication Technology infrastructure provider, Huawei, has restated its commitment to building high-quality, secure, and trustworthy products for its customers in Nigeria.

Head of Cyber Security, Huawei Nigeria, Osita Nweze, who disclosed this, also said that the company has invested $20billion annually in Research and Development to improve its products’ operational quality and performance.

Nweze noted that the company alone invested a whopping $500 million in 2019 to boost software engineering capabilities and remove the clutter built up over the past 30 years.

He further noted that the company has set aside a total of $2 billion for its 5-year transformation program to enhance software engineering capabilities and practices and build trustworthy, quality products.

“As an ICT industry leader, Huawei needs to look back to resolve legacy issues and look into the future to prepare for what is yet to come. Whatever we do, we must ensure that operators’ past investment in their networks is protected and enable them to respond to future ICT changes,” he stated.

He revealed that over the past 30 years, the company has served 3 billion people in more than 170 countries and regions worldwide, providing equipment that has never been the source of significant network outages or serious cybersecurity incidents.

He noted that the company has a robust cybersecurity assurance system and a strong track record in cybersecurity, noting that there is no evidence of any wrongdoing on the company’s part in this respect.

“In a recent survey conducted by the CFI group on 177 operators and 12,300 customers, it was discovered that all the products have performed above the industry average regarding customer satisfaction, system stability, and reliability for three years in a row.

“Another report conducted by P3 Group in Germany also revealed that Huawei equipment has helped operators secure the first spot in both 2017 and 2018 in certain regions. For example, Huawei’s equipment helped EE rank first in the UK market,” he stated.
