Addressing newsmen during the event, the former president of JCI Nigeria in 2019 and the esteemed chairperson of the 2023 inaugural Heroes Award, Ms. Adetola Akinola, said JCI Nigeria has been steadfast in its mission to foster leadership and entrepreneurship.

Akinola further highlighted the organisation’s unique ability to bridge societal sectors, stating, “We unite all sectors of society, transcending boundaries and differences. Our commitment goes beyond just executing projects; we ensure that they leave a lasting and impactful legacy.”

She also stressed the need for renewed effort to promote values of leadership, entrepreneurship, and positive societal change.

She remarked, “What we are doing is going back to the drawing board, where we started as a group to better understand the path to our future. This journey has allowed us to delve deeper into the organization’s history and connect with the ideals of its founding fathers.”

She said, “Our primary objective is to nurture leaders by taking the lead ourselves. We firmly believe in not relying solely on the government’s initiatives within JCI.”

She stated that each awardee was recognised for their significant contributions to various fields, including community development, education, healthcare, and entrepreneurship.

Akinola stated that their tireless efforts have positively impacted the lives of countless individuals and communities, making them true heroes in the eyes of society.

In his acceptance speech, JCI Senator Bola Adewunmi expressed his gratitude for the honour and stressed the importance of community service and leadership.

Adewunmi encouraged others to join the mission of making the world a better place through active involvement in their communities.

Also, Adewunmi noted that the JCI Heroes Award serves as a reminder that individuals can make a profound difference in the world through their dedication and commitment to creating positive change.

He also urged all JCI members to stand as shining examples at all times.
