The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has updated the logo and national leadership details of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) on its official website following a court order.
The Commission also indicated that the changes were made “by court order” as part of its compliance with a judgment concerning the party’s logo and national executive structure.
According to the updated information on INEC’s official political parties portal, the Nigeria Democratic Congress is listed with the acronym NDC, while its party logo is marked as being updated by court order.
The development followed a judgment reportedly delivered on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, by Justice J.O. Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja in Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/1814/2026.
The suit was instituted by the party after it challenged INEC’s refusal to recognise and publish its modified logo and colour scheme adopted at the party’s inaugural National Executive Committee meeting.
The court reportedly held that the commission’s refusal to recognise the changes was unconstitutional and unlawful, and directed the electoral body to give effect to the party’s decisions.
Following the judgment, INEC has now reflected the changes on its official website.
The Commission’s updated records also recognise Senator Cleopas Moses Zuwoghe as the National Chairman of the NDC and Barrister Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu as the National Secretary.
Other officers listed by the commission are John Odey, National Treasurer; Mainasara Abubakar Sani, National Financial Secretary; and Reuben Egwuaba, National Legal Adviser.
INEC’s official record states that the logo and the listed national officers are recognised “by court order.”
The commission had earlier confirmed its compliance with a Federal High Court order directing it to register the Nigeria Democratic Congress as a political party.
At a consultative meeting with political parties in February, INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, SAN, said the commission had decided to comply with the Federal High Court judgment in Suit No. FHC/LKJ/CS/49/2025, which ordered the registration of the NDC as a political party.
