A former minister of state for education and the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the last general election in Delta State, Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi, has refuted the rumour making the rounds that elder statesman and former head of state, General Yakubu Gowon (rtd), is dead.

The chief press secretary to the former minister, Orusi Kenneth, described the purported death as the “handiwork of mischief makers”.

Gbagi said “General Gowon is alive, hale and hearty and at present in London.”

Quoting the elder statesman, Gbagi said, “General Gowon is still much around with us, hale and hearty. He is not in a hurry to go anywhere.”
