The International Association Of World Peace Advocates IAWPA has advised the people of Liberia to ensure they have a peaceful elections that will reflect the wishes of the generality of Liberians.
The global peace advocacy group made this known to newsmen in a statement jointly signed by its International Director of Africa affairs Amb. Johnny Metchie and it’s International Spokesman Amb Emmanuel Nkweke.
The group commended the people of Liberia for maintaining democracy after a horrifying civil war that claimed thousands of lives, displace families and destroyed properties. It said the people of Liberia must be commended for ensuring transitions and defending democracy so far stressing that Africa and the world in general is looking up to them for a commendable elections.
The Association also hailed President George Weah for maintaining peace in the country. “as a member of our unique association and winner of African Peace Medal, we make bold to say that the performance of President George Weah in maintaining and promoting peace not only in Liberia but in the West African block, is something commendable. While we look forward to greater days ahead for the Liberian nation, we are confident that the wishes of the generality of Liberians will be reflected in the results when announced”
“As an accredited group observing the elections in Liberia,we have deployed enough personnel that will be monitoring the conduct of the elections with special emphasis on checking the level of tolerance, women participation as well of other vulnerable persons like the handicapped among others” the statement added
