Akpabio Leads Senators On Condolence Visit To Ex-Senate President Lawan Over Mother’s Death

Senate President Godswill Akpabio, on Monday, paid a condolence visit to his predecessor, the President of the 9th Senate, Senator Ahmad Lawan, over the death of his mother, Hajiya Halima ‘Baba’ Ibrahim.

Akpabio led a delegation of Senators during the visit to Senator Lawan’s hometown in Gashua, Bade local government area of Yobe State.

 

A statement by the Media Adviser to Senator Lawan, Dr. Ezrel Tabiowo, a copy of which was sent to LEADERSHIP, said the Senate President and the delegation arrived the Wachakal Airstrip located in Nguru local government area of the state at about 3:30pm.

On the delegation were the Deputy Senate President, Senator Jibrin Barau; the Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele (APC, Ekiti Central); Senator Sani Musa (APC, Niger East); Senator Suleiman Sadiq Umar (Kwara North), and Senator Yahaya Abdullahi (PDP, Kebbi North).

Others included Senators Ibrahim Mohammed Bomadi (APC, Yobe South); Asuquo Ekpenyong (APC, Cross River South); Mohammed Tahir Monguno (APC, Borno North), and Senator Saliu Mustapha (APC, Kwara Central).

The Senators were received at the Wachakal Airstrip by the Deputy Speaker of the Yobe State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ya’u Usman-Dachia, alongside some other lawmakers.

The delegation, thereafter, proceeded to Senator Lawan’s residence in Gashua.

Senator Akpabio, in a condolence message delivered on behalf of the Senate delegation, paid glowing tribute to Senator Lawan’s mother, Hajiya Halima ‘Baba’ Ibrahim.

He prayed for the repose of the soul of the deceased.

Akpabio, in another breadth, lauded the accomplishments of Senator Lawan as the President of the 9th Senate.

He commended the former Senate President for his commitment to the development of his constituency.

He said that Lawan’s passion for serving his people attracted several projects, which brought about infrastructural development to Yobe North Senatorial District.

Responding, Senator Lawan thanked the Senate President Akpabio, and members of the delegation for finding time between their busy schedules to pay him a visit over the death of his mother.

He wished them journey mercy back to Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.
