Plateau State chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has concluded plans for a free eyes screening exercise for officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) to mark the “2023 Physicians Week.”

More than 200 policemen and women will benefit from the free medical eyes check, while others with critical eyes challenges will be issued reading glasses and medications at no cost.

The NMA state chairman, Dr Bapiga’an William Audu, made the disclosure at a press briefing to mark this year’s Physicians Week in Jos, the Plateau State capital. He also noted the importance of the eye and its periodic examination for better vision for the officers to carry out their obligations as expected effectively.

Bapiga’an while reading the address of the NMA national president, Dr Uche Rowland Ojimmah, warned that, it is high time security agencies ended the menace of one chance and kidnapping for ransom lamenting that the rate at which doctors/dentists and their relatives are being kidnapped on a daily basis left much to be desired.

According to him, some of their colleagues were abducted but lived to tell the story.
