Less than a week after hoodlums murdered a 58-year-old woman in ‘Jeka Da Fari’ area of Gombe State capital by stabbing her on the neck, a female student of the College Of Education (COE) Billiri, in Billiri local government area of the State, was again killed by hoodlums in the early hours of Monday.

LEADERSHIP reports that this was the third time in three months that thugs had slayed innocent citizens in the state as the first reported incident was the murder of a popular islamic preacher in the state, Sheikh Albani Kuri.

The second was last Friday at Jeka Da Fari in the state capital when suspected thugs killed a woman and carted away her phone and the latest one was the female college student in Billiri.

Meanwhile, Police have, however, arrested the suspected killers of the 58-year-old woman even as those responsible for killing the Islamic cleric were yet to be fished out.

The murdered student was identified as Yosi Yusuf and was an NCE 2 student, according to our sources.

Some alleged that the female student was raped by the miscreants before they subsequently murdered her.

But, in an interview, a neighbour of the deceased who lives in the same house with the deceased located off campus, one Mustapha Mohammed, revealed that the incident occurred at about 3:50am

He noted that they heard her screaming, came out to see what was happening and saw her bleeding seriously on the ground while the perpetrators of the cruel act had fled.

“We quickly went to report to the security agents to take her to hospital. But before we came back, she died. We came and met her lifeless body.

“We initially called the security men on phone, some of them their lines were off while others did not answer our calls. That was why we decided to go to their station to report so they would take her to hospital,”,he narrated.

The spokesperson of the Gombe State Police Command, DSP Mahid Muazu Abubakar, confirmed the incident to our correspondent.

“She was stabbed with a kitchen knife by an unknown person. No arrest yet but CP (Commissioner of Police) has directed for investigation,” the PPRO stated.

Also commenting on the development via a phone interview with our correspondent, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the College, Hannatu Henry, advised students to be staying in the campus, saying it is safer than off campus residences.
