The American Management University, California, USA, has conferred an Honourary Doctorate Degree (PhD) in Leadership and Management on the Special Assistant to Kaduna State governor on School Feeding Programme, Dr. Fauziya Buhari.

Fauziya also clinched the Award of Excellence in Peace and Community Development at the 2023 Peace Achievers International Awards/Summit.

She received the awards alongside other eminent Nigerians drawn from different parts of the country and walks of life at the 12th edition of the prestigious annual Peace Achievers International Awards and Summit, which took place on Saturday at the Abuja Continental Hotel in Abuja.

The African representative of the American Management University, Dr Samuel Ojong, said Fauziya and other recipients of the doctorate degree were honoured because of thier professional distinction, integrity, excellence in leadership and selfless service to humanity.

Ojong, who decorated the recipients alongside other scholars, congratulated them and urged them to be worthy Ambassadors of the University in all thier endeavours.

While speaking with journalists on the sideline of the event, Fauziya lauded the American Management University and the organisers of the Peace Achievers Awards for celebrating her diligence and service in nation building.

She said the honourary doctorate degree in Leadership and Management bestowed on her as well as the award of Excellence in Peace and Community Development were inspirations to do more in service to humanity.

Fauziya is a dynamic and versatile professional of many sides with over a decade of multi-sectoral experience.

She is a pragmatic professional with a unique blend of expertise in Electrical Engineering, Hospitality, Auditing, Financial and Budgetary Management.

Earlier in his speech, the project director of Peace Achievers Awards, Amb. Kingsley Amafibe, said the Peace Achievers Award recognises individuals, who have contributed immensely to nation-building, through peace-driven initiatives, education and youth empowerment.

According to him, the 12th edition of the annual awards, with the theme “Sustainable Peace and Economic Growth in Africa”, was geared towards bringing to the fore the importance of peace in driving economic prosperity.

He, therefore, urged the awardees to see the honour as a ‘higher calling’ towards deeper commitment to peace building in Nigeria, Africa and the world at large.

“I want to congratulate all the 2023 recipients of the 12th Peace Achievers International Awards and the Honorary Doctorate Degrees of the American Management University.

“We are building a movement involving all sectors of the society that promote peace and unity in Africa.

“There is no better time than this to honour outstanding personalities like you, so together we can build a global partnership for peace,” Amafibe stated.
