The North-West Security and Stability Support Network, has called on the governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal, to cease media attacks on the minister of state for defence, Bello Mattawale, stating that it is a waste of time.
The group also criticised Governor Lawal for frustrating regional initiatives, noting that it is regrettable that instead of addressing the pressing security challenges, the governor has chosen to engage in personal vendetta and political distractions.
The call was contained in a statement issued by the chairman of the group, Suleiman Abbah, and made available to journalists in Abuja, yesterday.
Abbah expressed regret that, instead of focusing on regional efforts to tackle the pressing security challenges in Zamfara and the North-West as a whole, Governor Lawal’s actions reflect a lack of leadership and a disregard for the welfare and safety of the people of Zamfara.
“The attacks, killings, kidnappings, and displacement of communities have caused immense suffering and fear among the residents. It is imperative that all efforts are directed toward finding lasting solutions to these challenges.
“Engaging in personal disputes and diverting attention from the core issues only exacerbates the already dire situation,” Abbah said.
The group asserted that the governor’s actions are regrettable and warned that he must prioritise the security and well-being of his constituents over personal grievances.
