An engineer, Olufemi Fasehun, has urged the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to order an investigation into the alleged attempt by the Egunaye Family of the Oregun area of Lagos State to take over his late father’s estate through the help of some policemen.

Fasehun, who made the call in a petition written on his behalf by his lawyer, Otunba Remi Adeoye, claimed the alleged land grabbers were using the police officers from Alagbon to dispossess him of his land and also threatening his life.

The petition stated that he was appointed as the administrator of his father’s estate in 2003 and that he never imagined that some 15 to 20 years later, he would find himself in a position where he would be fighting against conspiring parties, not just for his land inheritance, but also for his life.

He said on January 10, 1961, his late father, Ebenezer Olawanle Fasehun, purchased a piece of land located at 10 Kudirat Abiola Way, Oregun, Ikeja, Lagos, from the Egunaye family of Oregun with the sum of 100 pounds sterling.

Afterwards, he proceeded to register the title documents of the land, and a survey lodged concerning the same ground was written alongside the paper that same year.

Fasehun further maintained that upon carrying out these due registration processes to lay claim to ownership of the land legally, his father built a house on his land, fenced it around, and lived there with his family from 1961 till his death in 2004.

He also stated, “After the man’s death, a family case involving Engr. Olufemi Fasehun Late father’s concubine and her children arose from the management of the estate where the High Court of Lagos State partitioned his father’s estate amongst the beneficiaries and following the judgment of Justice Onyeabo delivered on 10th January 2019, the ownership of the property was given to him.

“However, since December 2021, a period during which he was outside the country, Engr. Olufemi Fasehun alleged that some individuals allegedly forcefully and forcibly entered into the same property capitalising on the fact he was residing abroad at the time.’’
