After 171 years of legal battles that could rival the length of a Tolstoy novel, the Supreme Court has spoken, and President Bola Tinubu’s victory stands tall.

The nation watched with bated breath as the final verdict was delivered, and inside the hallowed halls of power, jubilation reigned supreme.

I  had the privilege of peering behind the curtain, offering a unique glimpse into the President’s world on that historic day. Picture this – a room filled with close aides, their eyes glued to the live Supreme Court proceedings on a large screen. The tension in the air was palpable, and it’s safe to say that job security was probably on the minds of those gathered.

Then, the moment of truth arrived. The room erupted into celebrations, a symphony of cheers, applause, and, no doubt, sighs of relief. The President himself, with a twinkle in his eye, quipped that their jobs were secured.

But that was just the beginning. Governors from various states started trooping into the Presidential Villa to join in the festivities. The mood was nothing short of euphoric.

It’s not every day you witness such joy in the corridors of power.

In his speech, President Tinubu expressed his contentment with the Supreme Court’s verdict, welcoming it with open arms. He praised the court’s unwavering commitment to the rule of law, applauding the Justices for their diligence and professionalism. It’s a moment that further solidified our nation’s democratic journey.

The President’s trust in Nigeria’s judiciary shone through in his words. He emphasized that he had never doubted the ability of our courts to administer justice. That kind of unwavering faith in our institutions is reassuring, to say the least.

Tinubu didn’t miss the chance to reaffirm the legitimacy of his party’s victory in the 2023 Presidential election. He proudly stated that the All Progressives’ Congress had freely and fairly won the popular mandate of Nigerians. It’s a statement that reflects the confidence in his party’s ability to lead the nation.

But beyond the politics, the President’s words carried a message of unity and responsibility.

He pledged to serve all Nigerians, regardless of their political affiliations, tribes, or faiths. This commitment to inclusivity is crucial in a diverse and complex nation like ours.

President Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda” was in the spotlight, emphasizing his determination to address the nation’s challenges. His promise to work tirelessly every single day to fulfill the collective yearnings and aspirations of Nigerians reflects the weight of his responsibilities.

Unity was a recurring theme, and the President emphasized the need for collaboration. He reminded us that we are all members of one household, and in times like these, working together is not just a choice but a necessity.

The Presidential Villa became a hub of activity, akin to a Mecca, as political leaders, business magnates, and associates of the President flocked to celebrate.

Governors from Lagos, Ogun, Kogi, Kwara, Bayelsa, and Benue joined the festivities, underlining the significance of this moment.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, was also present to celebrate with the President. His message was clear: unity is paramount. He called on opposition candidates, Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, to join hands with President Tinubu for the betterment of Nigeria. The idea of collective progress transcends party lines, and Abbas emphasized that there’s room for everyone at the table.

On his part, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance, Sani Musa, expressed his gratitude to God. He acknowledged the constitutional right of those who sought judicial review of the election results and commended their decision to do so.

Musa believes that this conclusion brings an end to the legal disputes and opens the door for governance. With President Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda,” encompassing eight cardinal points, Musa sees a promising future for Nigeria. His confidence in the President’s leadership is unwavering, citing the long years of preparation and dedication.

And then, there’s the message to the opposition. Musa urged them to view this victory as a collective success, emphasizing that there are no victors or vanquished.

He referred to the Supreme Court’s decision as the ultimate judgment, calling on all to appeal to a direction that fosters prosperity and renewed hope for the nation.

No doubt, the events of that historic day at the Supreme Court and the subsequent celebrations at the Presidential Villa are a testament to the resilience of our democracy. It’s a reminder that in the midst of political rivalries and legal battles, we must not lose sight of the bigger picture – a united and prosperous Nigeria.
