Yobe Gov Approves Review Of Gratuities, Plans Improved Border Security

Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni has approved a review of the monthly standing gratuities from N100 million to N200 million.

A statement from the office of the  commissioner for finance, Alhaji Mohammed Abacha, disclosed that Governor Buni approved the review to ensure increase in the payment of gratuities to beneficiaries every month.

According to him, the review would now provide room for a larger coverage of retired public officers and the next of kins of deceased workers to receive their retirement benefits.

He said this demonstrates the commitment of the state government to ensure that retirees are paid their benefits in good time after retirement .

The next of kins of deceased civil servants would also be paid the entitlements of their deceased relations to support the beneficiaries.

In another development, Governor Buni is to meet with the chiefs of army and air staff as a follow-up to the resolution of the state security council meeting in Damaturu.

The governor is scheduled to brief the security chiefs on the resolutions of the meeting and the need to intensify security presence along the borders.

The governor would also seek joint operations of the army, air force and police for clearance of possible undetonated explosive devices in some suspected areas.

Governor Buni, who commiserated with  families of victims of the recent attack, prayed for the repose of their souls.

 

He directed the Secretary to the State Government to constitute a government delegation to visit, condole and identify with the families.

The governor also directed the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to support the families with their immediate needs.
