Sadauna was on Thursday stabbed to death by a former student of Government Model Secondary School in Jalingo, where he worked as a teacher.

The ASUSS secretary, Taraba State chapter, Dr. Kason Ishaku, disclosed the closure of the secondary schools on Friday to journalists in his office, in Jalingo, Taraba state capital.

Ishaku revealed that the lives of both the teachers and that of students were facing threats in various schools of the state.

The ASUSS Secretary said the union decided to close down the secondary schools in the state as a best way to express their pain over the death of Mr. Sardauna.

“We have been having pockets of attacks in our schools, sometimes students against students, sometimes students against teachers, our lives are under series of threats and we are vulnerable, we are begging the government to help us with security to avert further killings the same way it happened to our colleague,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Jenjo Community Development Association (JCDA), the kinsmen of the slain teacher, has called on the Commissioner of Police, Taraba State Command, to immediately arrest and prosecute those behind the death of Mr. Sardauna.

JCDA, at press briefing led by its national chairman, Mr. Ezekiel Namuel, condemned the murder of Sardauna, which he said was done by his students even as he called on the government to strengthen security around the schools and aggressively implement the Safe Schools Global Innitiative.
