Lagos Division of the Court of Appeal will today, November 15, deliver judgment on the appeals filed by the governorship candidates of the Labour Party (LP), Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor against Lagos State governor Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

The court announced the date on Monday through a hearing notice.

The notice read that appeals CA/L/EP/GOV/LAG/23/23 and CA/L/EP/GOV/LAG/29/23 will be listed for judgment before the Court of Appeal sitting at Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos, on Wednesday, 15th November 2023, at three o’clock in the afternoon.

The three-person panel of the appellate court presided over by Justice Yargata Nimpar had reserved the judgment after all the parties in the appeals argued and adopted their processes.

Other Justices of the panel are Justice Samuel Bola and Justice Paul Bassi.

The Rhodes-Vivour and Jandor are urging the court in their separate appeals to dismiss the judgment of the Lagos State Governorship Election Tribunal that upheld the election of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and declare them the winner of the election held on March 18 2023.

The Governorship Election Petition Tribunal had, on September 25, 2023, affirmed the re-election of Governor Sanwo-Olu and his deputy Obafemi Hamzat as the duly elected governor of the state.

The respondents in Rhodes-Vivour’s appeals are the Independent National Electoral Commission, Sanwo-Olu, his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat and the All Progressives Congress (APC).
